Is Oil Giant ConocoPhillips Really Working to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions?

Houston-based oil giant ConocoPhillips notes:  Between 2000-2016, the natural gas and oil industry invested $108 billion on new technologies to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions — and U.S. emissions are at their lowest level in a generation. We must continue working together, to develop climate-related solutions that will protect the environment for future generations while producing the energy we need.

This claptrap is continued here, and not astonishingly, it doesn’t name a single specific fact or program that suggests that it’s actually doing anything whatsoever to develop technologies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

To be fair, these people really are between a rock and a hard place.  They need to tell their investors and bankers that they are–and will always be–in the business of sucking the last molecule out of the Earth and burning it.  At the same time, they’re trying to convince us that they honestly care about our health and safety.  Logic would suggest that they can’t have it both ways, but they seem to be pretty adept at negotiating all this, and perpetuating the same BS year after year.
