Twisted Logic Associated with Coronavirus

Some people object to the passages in the New Testament of the Bible to the effect that those who leave this world without accepting Christ as their savior are going to spend eternity burning in hell.  They point out that, in the developing world, nine million children die each year before the age of five, whose families have no knowledge of Christ nor access to Christianity, and that such an approach to sorting out the souls of the departed is incompatible with the notion of a loving God.

Now, check out evangelical pastor Jonathan Shuttlesworth, whose taken this to an entirely new level with his prediction that liberal states, who “have chosen to give God the middle finger,” will be hit hard by the coronavirus.  Here we see a level of logic that’s far worse than the one described above.  Suppose, as a Californian, I had voted for Trump.  Would God punish me just because I happen to live in a liberal state?  Are Kansans who voted for Hillary Clinton more likely to be spared?

The votes of people who think like this count just as much as yours and mine–in fact, they count far more, due to the electoral collage.
