U.S. to International Criminal Court: Go Die

In response to the meme here a reader noted, “This decision is welcome news to everyone who believes that the perpetrators of war crimes should not enjoy impunity, no matter how powerful they are.  (The decision) vindicates the rule of law and gives hope to the thousands of victims seeking accountability when domestic courts and authorities have failed them.”

I wish I were as enthusiastic. Obviously human rights groups welcome this, as do all people of decency. But how far do you think the ICC is going to get, given that the Trump administration won’t let them into the country?
At this moment in human history, the United States has no regard for international law, and its leader thumbs his nose at all laws, both international and domestic.  Is he imperiled?  Maybe, but tens of millions of his supporters see these actions as making America great again.
News flash: Lawlessness isn’t sustainable.  The Romans didn’t think that unaccountable emperors were an issue…until a few people who were even more unscrupulous realized how weak the empire had become, and knocked them down like a cheap tent in a swift breeze.
