Stephen King No Fan of Florida Governor DeSantis, Nor of Trump Himself

As shown here, novelist Stephen King can be counted on for clever ways of making his point.
Where King and I differ is this: I see no evidence that DeSantis or any of the others is stupid. He’s making a politically motivated calculation, betting that the majority of voters are dumb enough to believe that masks and vaccinations represent a net negative to the health of the individual and to society as a whole.
There is no doubt that the anti-vaxxer movement and the whole extreme right wing is picking up steam; look what just happened in Texas.
We’ll just have to see how far this gets, i.e., what the statistics tell us about COVID-related deaths and the state’s GDP. What happens to a tourism-driven state like Florida when huge swaths of the U.S. population are either a) terrified to go there, or b) so angry that they will not go there. Here’s a state of 21.4 million people that is getting wiped out by a disease that is flourishing precisely because of malfeasance on its governor’s part.
