illegal-deforestation-for-soy-2Our tiny planet is divided up into even tinier sovereign nation-states, numbering about 200, each with its own culture, and more importantly, with its own conception of how it operates vis-a-vis the rest of the world.  In many cases, this has no real bearing on anything, and certainly not the wholesale viability of the planet and the population that lives on its surface.  (more…)

Bill-Moyers__cropped1I hope you’ll take a bit over two minutes and watch the video below, featuring Bill Moyers discussing what is perhaps the most vexing challenge facing journalism today. He asks, “(With respect to climate change), can we get this story right? Can we tell it whole? Can we connect the dots and inspire people with the possibility of change?” (more…)

_107009356_bama2As shown in the graphic below, a very long conversation could be had about the well-being of the people in each of the 50 U.S. states.  Maybe what it shows is that, for the most part, the states are composites of extremely large and diverse regions that, in most cases, balance themselves out fairly well. It seems to call out: Go about your day with a pure, unbridled intention to make this planet a more just, verdant and peaceful place to live.

I’ll give that a go.

60638878_437112053766797_7153796127781814272_nTo the shame of the human race, there are people who feel a sense of pride and accomplishment by shooting innocent and soon-to-be-extinct game animals: elephants, lions, giraffes, tigers and the rest.  Though I can’t do anything about this sickening pastime, I can at least promote the people (and baboon?) pictured here.

Want to enjoy nature?  Take a lesson from these guys.

60796553_2762263727199997_8414374500946149376_nIt wasn’t that long ago that American diversity was celebrated and racism disdained.  True, 1961 saw numerous horrific injustices against racial minorities, but at least our culture had begun viewing this as something grotesque and sickening.

Now, we’re learning that the hatred and divisiveness that we’re living through under Trump was not an accident, nor was Trump himself the proximate cause. Rather, this is part of Vladimir Putin’s extremely successful attempts to destabilize our society.

As you watch the video here, realize that has been, and continues to be, the most effective single take-down of a world power in the history of humankind.  If it weren’t so completely evil, congratulations would be in order.

beyondburger.0.0The only complaint that can be made about organic food is that it cannot be produced at prices and quantities such that it can be affordable for a world population soon to hit 10 billion people.  Yet people don’t have an issue with those who only eat organic, as they are entitled to their own beliefs, even if those beliefs, at least as they apply to GMOs, are scientifically unfounded.
