Changing the Way We Generate Electricity
As the author here points out, the generation of electricity in the U.S. has changed, and it does vary widely on a state-to-state basis, which is both a blessing and a curse.

As a guy who writes marketing materials for a living, I understand that if I fail to gain the reader’s attention, it doesn’t matter what I say because it’s going to remain invisible. Yet it’s just as bad, and possibly worse, to irritate the reader with outrageous assertions that insult the intelligence. 
As readers are aware, I very seldom respond to frequent commenter MarcoPolo, as he is a professional troll of this and other environmentalist sites, and I don’t think it’s right to provide a place for his antagonistic and generally inaccurate views on the entire environmental movement. Here’s a rare exception, since it enables me to make a point. 
Given the aggression with which the Trump administration is both rolling back environmental protection and killing anything whatsoever that came from the Obama era, it’s easy to assume that the damage they’re wreaking is going unchecked. Fortunately, that’s not the case, as we learned last week, when a third federal judge declared that President Trump’s order revoking a sweeping ban on oil and gas drilling in the Arctic and Atlantic oceans is illegal. It appears that 128 million acres of federal waters will remain off limits to energy exploration.
Here’s something a gentleman by the name of Eleazar David Melendez wrote, expressing how and why he believes Puerto Rico’s death toll of about 3,000 from Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017 ought to be the biggest strike against President Donald Trump. If you know someone who writes with more power and conviction, I hope you’ll make an introduction. 
“Socketwrench” here makes an excellent point. It’s ironic that the next new thing in transportation is the removal of the driver while preserving everything else, since this accomplishes very little of what we actually need, i.e., the means of moving our bodies and our stuff around without simultaneously moving around 4000 pounds of steel.

I laughed out loud at this cartoon, perhaps only because of the considerable ribbing my father received when I was in my graduate program in philosophy. On the golf course one afternoon, one of Dad’s friends asked him, “How’s the job market out there for all those newly minted professional philosophers?” 
Has anyone else noticed that it’s getting harder to recognize the difference between humor from news? As our world disintegrates into ignorance and hate, perhaps this shouldn’t come as a shock, but I have to confess that I’m having a deuce of a time with this.
