I’m not sure on this one, Michele. Letting poor people die of curable diseases, putting children in cages, committing adultery with porn stars, endorsing racists, supporting tyrants, mangling the environment for money, profiting from the presidency, cutting food programs for the hungry, banning entire religions from entry into the country and supporting genocide abroad. I’ll have to think on this a little further before I can weigh in on your assertion.

This video on at-home plastic recycling has 46 million views, so I have to think some people believe that the construction and operation of the machine presented here could conceivably be a net positive for the environment. Wow, that’s a depressing thought.
Suppose your goal is to accelerate the decline in the U.S. educational system. Maybe you look at the fact that 35% of our kids still read at grade level and you think you can bring that down to single digits with enough hard work. What should happen when we, as a civilization, come to learn that the use of a certain substance represents an unacceptable environmental danger? This is not an idle exercise; in fact, it happens every month or so, and the pace of these discoveries continues to accelerate. 60 years ago it was DDT, 30 years ago it was CFCs, and just recently it was decorative glitter that looks pretty, but poisons and chokes fish and other wildlife. As suggested here, we certainly do seem to be of two different minds when it comes to science. We don’t challenge the science behind newly developed medications to treat disease, evacuating in front of hurricanes, or sending stuff to Mars. But when a bunch of university professors who have been studying climate change for 40 years tell us that our civilization is about to fall into an abyss, we decide that we just can’t trust these people.
