Does limiting the role of science in environmental protection and public health policy-making seem like a good idea to you? If so, here’s a short video featuring a few scientists whose opinions may change your mind.
As I wrote earlier, lots of things are going right vis-a-vis environmental stewardship. Yes, the U.S. federal government is an unholy disgrace as an entity on the world stage, but you can’t count out the basic goodness of the American people.

It would be easy to think that the fossil fuel industry’s aggressive disinformation campaign, attempting to discredit the theory of anthropogenic global warming, was abandoned years ago, and that the overwhelming body of evidence in support of the theory has long since made it impossible for any credible person or organization to deny the facts concerning our warming planet. The bad news is that only 43% of Republicans think that Trump should be able to shut down any news media outlets that he deems to be serving up “fake news.” Thus the good news: 57% of Republicans have at least some understanding of the U.S. Constitution. To simplify, the (slim) majority of Republicans understand the First Amendment, and some of them, presumably, know that there are legal and constitutionally valid remedies to libel that are available to the president, and anyone else.
