This is what’s known as defunding the police.  It means calling the police off of incidents in which no physical force is required, allowing them to focus the entirety of their efforts where someone could be injured of killed.
See what the “Goods News Movement” has to say about this, below.  Btw, if zero of 2200 incidents required police backup, that’s remarkable.  In most cases, it’s at least 1%.
This (Denver’s program) is working all over the country.⁣

One of the forces that works in the favor of compassion and reason in this country is the sabotage that hateful morons often inflict on themselves.

Whether it’s insurrectionists going to prison, or idiots like the one here living in poverty, many of these people put themselves in positions where they no longer represent danger to civil society.

This is a very interesting idea, but I don’t believe it for a second.

Think for a moment what Trump’s political career would have been like if he had come on the scene 20 years ago.  He would have made a few preposterous statements and been laughed into complete irrelevance.

In 2016 American voters made him the most powerful person on the planet.

Hillsdale College is a far-right wing institution that performs pseudo surveys like the one shown here.

As with everything we encounter from the ultra conservatives, it involves both lies and oversimplifications.  First of all, who’s stupid enough to believe that “nearly half of younger Americans would prefer living in a socialist country” — regardless of how the word is defined?

For this type of marketing campaign to be effective, it needs to be focused on people so dim or misinformed that they think there is a hard line between capitalism and socialism.  Once one starts to realize that all Americans are the beneficiaries of dozens, perhaps hundreds, of government services, one realizes that the rhetoric here is simply garbage.

Next week it will be: “Do you agree with Biden’s attempts to make gun ownership illegal?”

The passing of Madeleine Albright reminds us of exactly how blatantly treasonous Trump’s behavior was, even early in his term.  On her show Fresh Air, Terry Gross asked Albright in a 2018 interview what she would have done had she been Secretary of State in 2016, when the entirety of the U.S. intelligence community averred that Russia had tampered in the election, and actively helped bring the former president to power. I’ve participated in several protests, and I always take note of the attitude the police take.  I’ve noticed that in liberal areas, law enforcement actually helps, smiling and keeping traffic out of the way.

In rural, more conservative areas, police are not particularly friendly, but I’ve never seen anything like what happened in Denver after the murder of George Floyd.

Twelve people who were assaulted by the police sued; here is the jury’s decision.

GOP Senate candidate from Michigan John James says, “America is at a crossroads—Freedom or Communism? Send John James to defeat Communism by donating $5 or $10 at the link below!”

He believes, and he’s probably correct, that folks who would make a donation have no idea what “communism” means.

Until the Cold War ended with the USSR post WW II, most Americans were afraid of government ownership of factories and farms, central economic planning, abolition of inheritance and real estate, collectivization, and the silencing of dissenting views.

We live among gullible morons who think that Biden is leading America into this dystopia.

If there is a recurring theme to the politically-focused posts here at 2GreenEnergy, it could be summed up as “how far we’ve fallen.”

The author of the meme here has nailed something.  American revolutionary Thomas Paine’s famous book shares its name with the philosophical movement of the 17th and 18th Centuries.  The Age of Reason, aka The Enlightenment, represented a true breakthrough for Western Civilization, giving rise to our respect for science, and our love of liberty, pursuit of human happiness, toleration, and the separation of church and state.

The cartoon on the right-hand side depicts the corrupt Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and his wife, but it really could have been anything in our modern world of U.S. political culture: QAnon, the insurrection, the Big Lie, MAGA, the anti-vaxxers, climate deniers, Republicans’ support for Putin, etc.

Ever since I was a boy I’ve been coming across theories to the effect that humankind finds itself at the end of a cycle that starts with the development of rudimentary technology, then radio (speed of light) communications, followed by nuclear weapons, a few decades of exploration that fails to locate any alien civilizations, followed by nuclear annihilation.

The author of the meme here represents this with great cleverness and irony.

This guy makes a good point.

But early stage?

I’m worried that this is the late, near-end stage.
