If we’ve learned anything about Donald Trump as a person and political actor, it’s that there is no limit to his disgusting behavior.
Think of how many times over the last five years we’ve all said, “Well, that has to be the bottom,” only to learn a few weeks later that there is a new level to his depravity.
Of course, what we’re really learning is that there is no limit to the hateful ignorance of his voting base, and the fawning cowardice of his supporters in Congress.
Here’s a product from a company called Veer: the Split Belt. Its inventor claims it has distinct advantages over conventional belts used in bicycles, motorcycles, etc., and it very well may.
Yet I see this as a scam. Why? Because no rational agent wants investors diluting his company’s value and breathing down his neck, when the product itself is already fully developed and ready to be sold into the OEM market. If you need capital to ramp up manufacturing, just get a purchase order from a customer and take it to a bank.
Here’s an ad that reads: A political earthquake is coming to the USA and it has 18 wheels and 5 axles. Our Canadian brothers and sisters were the spark that will ignite the light of liberty in the hearts of every freedom-loving man, woman, and child on earth (sic).
Well, I suppose this doesn’t address everything that’s wrong with today’s America, but it’s a good start. Driving empty trucks around is a reckless assault against the world’s environment. Protesting against the use of science to address a pandemic that has already killed 6 million worldwide, and almost 1 million in the U.S., shows a depth of ignorance that’s hard to find beyond our borders.
Let this serve as a reminder that, unlike the United States, the other democracies on Earth are getting through the early part of the 21st Century without electing sociopaths who destabilize their nations, and the rest of the world at the same time.
Exactly how far war criminal Vladimir Putin ultimately gets in Eastern Europe remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: he’ll run into stiff opposition, and he won’t be aided by traitors in the sovereign nations he attacks.
Of course, Charles Bukowsky was a poet and author, not a neuroscientist, but there is clearly some truth here.
It’s how I often console intelligent people who are going through sad periods of their lives: the tears are the price that bright people pay for being bright. You can experience great joys that are totally inaccessible to morons, but, again, that doesn’t come without a cost.
From ultra-right Trump lackey Mo Brooks: President Trump agrees – America can’t afford to send any more fake conservatives to Washington. Especially not representing Alabama in the Senate. I, Mo Brooks, am a proven conservative fighter who always will stand up for our country, our freedom, and our American values. President Trump has put his faith in me – can you?
We’ve been talking recently about Republicans making questionable moves going into the 2022 midterms, like Tiffany Smiley, a garden-variety conservative soccer mom, deciding to run for the U.S. Senate in Washington State, one of the most progressive parts of the nation.
Mo Brooks is a truly detestable human being, but at least he’s from Alabama, a state that wears its admiration for detestable human beings tattooed on its forehead. He’s a shoe-in.
From this article from The Hill: 62 Percent of Voters Say Putin Wouldn’t Have Invaded Ukraine if Trump Were President.
I join the 62%, but not for the reason Trump would like us to believe, i.e., that he’s a stronger man, one whom Putin fears and wouldn’t have defied.
Putin loved every minute of Trump’s presidency and is doing everything in his power to arrange four more years of it. In addition to all the lies and criminality that crippled this nation’s credibility on the world stage, Trump came within a gnat’s backside of turning the U.S. into an authoritarian state, like Russia and China. This would have been the end of America’s global leadership, and the beginning of the end of democracy as a major form of government.
Putin is among the most malevolent actors in human history, and he knows a chump when he sees one.
