The caption here translates as “Exxon’s climate solution: use algae as biofuel.  Experts say it won’t work.”

Of course it won’t work, but we can all imagine the conversation in the conference room at ExxonMobil’s public relations firm, where someone said: “We can’t just sit around and be perceived as doing business as usual while the planet bakes.  Of course, business as usual is precisely what we’ll be doing, so we need a ruse, even if it’s one that was discredited decades ago.  Let’s dredge one up. How about biofuels?”  (more…)

In his most recent article, columnist and social observer David Brooks analyzes the forces that are widening the chasm between the political left and right, noting that it’s not as much economic as it is intellectual. In particular, he discusses how it’s possible that “77% of Donald Trump’s backers believe that Joe Biden had won the presidential election because of fraud. Many of these same people think climate change is not real. Many of these same people believe they don’t need to listen to scientific experts on how to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.” (more…)

As previously mentioned, 2GreenEnergy “headquarters” is located in Santa Ynez, CA, a fairly rural, “God and country” (read: redneck) part of Santa Barbara County.  Ironically, our little burg has the completely opposite ethos of the tiny little beach city that sits only 30 miles away, featuring the University of California at Santa Barbara, home of 12 different Nobel laureates, 9 of whom won for physics and materials science.

Nowhere on Earth is this more apparent, and more devastating, than in the United States, a country in which 97 of the poorest 100 counties are in the states that voted for Trump.

What did these folks get in return for their support? Cuts to education, social programs, and healthcare, along with tax breaks that went almost entirely to the rich,

Here’s a meme made in 2016, which foretold of the devastating effect that Trump would make in American education.  Four years later, our children are that much further behind their counterparts around the globe in terms of math, science, reading comprehension, and critical thinking–that much less equipped to compete in the international marketplace.

In 2021, we say goodbye to the human battering ram with the orange hair and makeup. His departure couldn’t come a moment too soon.

Trump’s efforts to make it harder for Americans to receive food stamps ran headlong into the 67-page opinion of Chief U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell of D.C. who condemned the administration for failing to consider how the rule would impact an estimated hundreds of thousands of Americans during the pandemic.

Of course, this is a mistake anyone could have made; after all, who knew that the pandemic had pushed millions of Americans into joblessness, and that unemployment might trigger hunger?

In withdrawing the United States from the Open Skies Treaty and destroying the highly specialized aircraft used to conduct surveillance on Russia, Donald Trump has made it impossible for our own nation, as well as all our allies, to know which country is to become the next Crimea, illegally annexed by Vladimir Putin. Moreover, in the likely event that Joe Biden wishes to rejoin the treaty, it will be an extremely time-consuming and expensive endeavor. (See video below.) (more…)

A symptom of the decline in the U.S. educational system is the dramatic rise in the number of conspiracy theorists.

What these folks have in common is that, by definition, a small, malicious, and clandestine group that has successfully convinced the vast majority of the U.S. population, aka “sheep,” that something we take for granted is actually false. (more…)

Who didn’t see this coming?

Giuliani’s legal actions have the same validity as a urologist performing vasectomies with a hatchet.  Both should lose their licenses.

Obviously, there is no way to predict the outcome here, but it sure would be good to have him disbarred.
