Are Wind Turbines Burning Money?
There’s a report being passed around social media to the effect that the cost of fires in wind turbines could be as high as $9 million.
Although I have no way to verify this, I can point out that there are about 60,000 utility-scale wind turbines in the U.S., and that they cost an average of about $4 million apiece to install, meaning that we have about $2.4 trillion invested. $9 million represents 0.000375% of that total.
That percentage of the mass of my car is 4 grams.
As baseballer/comedian Yogi Berra put it, “It’s tough to make predictions, especially about the future.”
A great deal of the environmental damage Trump has inflicted on this planet will be fairly easy to reverse once he’s out of office. Of the 104 regulations that formerly protected our skies and waterways from toxic pollution, 80 of these are gone and the other 24 and in process of removal.
A reader sent me the meme here, and asked (implicitly) for my comments.
When we contemplate the phrase “defund the police,” we need to ask: Could progressives have possibly done any worse in their choice of words? Almost all Americans despise police murders. But “defunding” the police sounds like “disempowering” the police, resulting in anarchy, opposed by virtually everyone. 
Laboratory-grown meat is now available for human consumption for the first time, having been recently approved by the relevant government agency in Singapore. This is a huge deal for environmentalists, who point out quite correctly that the destruction of Earth’s rainforests to make way for the production of beef is as deleterious to the stability of our planet’s climate as the consumption of fossil fuels. 
As if this were in doubt? She was put in place specifically to destroy public education, and she put on a stunning performance.
There’s a great deal of truth in the graphic here, but it really isn’t a perfect analogy. If you’re an amoral member of the top 1%, there’s no reason for you to concern yourself with the well-being of other members of society. This planet may be baking like a potato, but there will always be plenty of fast cars, country clubs, attractive sex partners, juicy steaks, champagne, and all the other trappings of luxury life.
When I was a little boy, news anchor Walter Cronkite was voted “the most trusted man in America.” He earned that trust through fair and objective reporting, while not shying away from offering an occasional bit of social commentary, as suggested here.
