Everything you read at the left is true, but the bigger insult to your intelligence is that this is what the right wing has been telling Americans ever since we were settling the wild west with the original Colts and Remingtons.

It’s really a profound slap in the face to everyone with an IQ over 75.

OMG.  Check this out.

If that doesn’t make tingles run down your spine, I’m not sure what will.

My dad was a WWII bomber pilot whom we lost 10 years ago.  I miss him terribly, yet I’m almost glad he’s not here to see this.

Dad risked his life to beat down fascism before it took over the world.  Although he was politically conservative, he’d be profoundly unhappy at what’s happening in the United States now.

This brings up an interesting point.  If you’re a conservative (and in this case a liar; FB deleted this post???), you may object that Los Angeles County, with 10 million residents, has a great deal of clout.  But ask yourself this: Doesn’t every voter deserve to have an equal voice, regardless of the state in which he resides?  My vote in California means essentially zero, as this state will definitely vote against Trump.  But if I lived in Florida or Ohio, my vote would be thousands of times more influential in the overall outcome.  Does that seem fair?

To anyone, regardless of their party?

We keep wondering about the constituencies of the people voting for Trump, and the list keeps getting smaller.  Here’s one I had yet to mention, and it’s perhaps the most obvious of them all: the families and friends of COVID-19 victims.  The 215K dead people can’t vote, but their relations can.  Then there is another 7.5 million victims who are still alive.  That’s a lot of sick, and, one would assume, angry people.

Today at Standing Rock, Greta Thunberg received a Lakota name: “Woman who comes from the Heavens.”

I wanted to post this, partially just because of that look of sheer awe on her face.

Also, obviously, it’s an opportunity to make an important point: We all make a difference. (more…)

I have to admit that I don’t understand why Trump is so far behind in the polls of older voters.  Sure, it’s possible that the meme here has nailed it, and they see that Trump’s approach is harming them personally.  But it’s also possible that older people, instead of being “stuck in their ways” and perhaps moving toward senility, are actually far sharper than what our stereotypes might suggest.

Retired people have time to stay apprised of current events, and, unless they confine themselves to Fox News, they are well aware of Trump’s desperation to stay in office, and they realize how debilitating this is to our nation and the values we once held so dear. (more…)

The words of Angela Merkel seem almost astonishing, after four years of Trump.  It’s easy for Americans to forget that true, honest leadership is still possible.

We can be forgiven if we have become so hardened by the atrocities of a would-be tyrant that we no longer recall someone in the White House who honestly cared about the well-being of the American public.

Keep the faith.  And vote.

Every American should be terrified of what the president is doing to encourage extreme right-wing violence, and no one, IMO, explains this any better than Michigan’s attorney general, as presented in this video.

We need to be prepared for some truly horrifying events in the weeks leading up to the election, as the noose tightens around Trump’s neck.

According to the Pew Research Center, two-thirds of all Americans believe the U.S. government should engage in environmental projects that mitigate climate change, as they feel they are already directly affected by it. (more…)
