Indonesia’s Parliament is on the verge of approving a sweeping coronavirus stimulus package that opponents charge would undermine worker protections and permit widespread destruction of the country’s rainforests.. (more…)
Going out on a limb here, but is it possible that the reason Trump’s taking a nosedive in the polls is that people are starting to realize that…..I don’t know…..he’s insane?
Person A: EVs cost half as much to maintain as gas cars. Plus “fuel” costs are significantly less too. When buying your next car consider one with a plug. Consumer Reports has examined its most recent data and determined that the cost of maintenance for an electric car is half that for a conventional car.
Person B: Battery production and disposal might be good to look into.
At left is an interesting thought someone had. Trump, in addition to all the other effects his selfish greed and insanity has on people, is exhaustion. Just being on the same planet with him is sapping our strength.
When was the last time our lives weren’t disrupted by lies, corruption, disease, stock market volatility, war, disrespecting an ally, coddling a dictator, torturing children, inciting violence, extortion, impeachment, destroying the environment, conflating centrist Democratic politics with socialism, denying science, white nationalism, or treason?
Who’s enjoying this s***?
Life used to be enjoyable. Let’s make this go away.
Developing “herd immunity” to COVID-19 sounds like a reasonable idea, until we realize that it would mean approximately 180 million cases, which would result in about 9 million deaths.
Let’s look at another societal woe we face here in the United States: domestic white terrorists–you know, the kind who plot to kidnap a state governor and take over the government, so as to turn it into an Aryan country. If we charge, convict and imprison enough of these ass****s, maybe we can accomplish something just like herd immunity: there won’t be enough left of them to cause us trouble.
How are Trump supporters responding to this recommendation from the entire medical community?
They see doctors, don’t they? Doesn’t it matter to them that the physicians they’re talking to think that the President of the United States is a danger to them–and to everyone else in the country?
It really hasn’t been a good couple of weeks for Trump; sure can’t wait for this to be over.
Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) commends JPMorgan Chase for announcing today that it will shape its core business to align with the Paris Agreement on climate change. JPMorgan Chase is one of the founding partners of RMI’s Center for Climate-Aligned Finance, established earlier this year to help major financial institutions implement the ambitious but challenging transition to full climate alignment of their portfolios.(more…)
What’s new in the Trump administration today? What’s the latest outrage?
Hard to keep track of all this, isn’t it? Indictments, corruption, rape allegations, positive tests for COVID, police killings, crashing poll numbers, stock market volatility following some abhorrent statement, white nationalism, obstruction in the justice department, presidential joyrides, super-spreader rallies, bald-faced lies in debates. What’s next?
For those trying to keep track of the succession of Trump campaign managers, I provide the piece at left; this sums it up nicely for those who would otherwise struggle to keep all this straight.
The meme here is a reminder that Antifa didn’t start with the BLM movement; it’s been around ever since a group of people first rose up against a tyrant.
My father, risking his life and acting in the spirit of Antifa, didn’t storm the beaches at Normandy, but he sure did pilot a B-17 bomber that destroyed a few dozen Nazi oil refineries.
As suggested here, American journalist Chris Hedges is Antifa as well, fighting with ideas rather than weapons of war. Perhaps this is indicative of the fact that all decent people have our own respective roles to play.
