Last night, Texas police officer Shaun Lucas fatally shot Jonathan Price, 31 (pictured), an unarmed black man, as Price was attempting to break up a fight.  Lucas has been arrested and charged with murder, as the Wolfe City Police Department said in a statement that he “did not take reasonable action in the encounter.”  Bond has been set at $1 million. Here are a few words from a man I’ve known more than 50 years, Joe Turk.  When I was a teen, I had two very good friends who attended a different school than my own, and Joe taught them math.  Because our schools had slightly different holidays, there were days I had off when they didn’t, and I’d sometimes go over there and sit in on his math classes; that’s how totally cool and entertaining they were. By a 6 – 2 majority, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the claim of religious freedom can’t be used to deny same-sex couples the right to marry.

If I were hearing this case, I’d ask, “Suppose your religious convictions mandated school segregation or statutory rape or genital mutilation. Unless you believe First Amendment should prevail in those cases, I’d like you to turn around and get out of this courtroom.”

Warped-minded justices Alito and Thomas dissented.

The meme here was posted by a conservative associate of mine.  Of course, it brought this post back on Trump’s recovery to mind.

Trump’s surviving the disease enables what fans of justice want anyway: indictments, convictions, and imprisonment.

It’s actually more a concept even greater than a single case of justice; it’s about the repudiation of hatred, ignorance, and corruption.  It’s showing the world that the United States still stands for something honorable.

Trump’s death would deny us the chance for redemption, and that would be a terrible thing.

Pope Francis–a breath of fresh air for a world so headed the wrong way.

Right-wing populism breeds hate and tribalism, and unbridled capitalism promotes competition and consumption.

All the while, this man of good will offers thoughts of peace that mist down from the heavens and remind us of who we truly are.

Obviously, young Americans should have some level of familiarity with the U.S. Constitution.  If I were designing a high school curriculum, I’d make it a part of U.S. History.

Of course, that was a serious answer to a rhetorical and politically motivated question.  The thinly veiled accusation here is that colleges need to accept some level of limitation on their cranking out liberals, who, the allegation continues, have no respect for or interest in the Constitution.

The supposedly neutral question is posed by Turning Point USA (TPUSA) an American conservative nonprofit. TPUSA’s affiliated organizations include Students for Trump.

It’s truly offensive, but welcome to America in 2020.

From Bloomberg Green:

Exxon Mobil Corp. has been planning to increase annual carbon-dioxide emissions by as much as the output of the entire nation of Greece (17% — see graph), an analysis of internal documents reviewed by Bloomberg shows, setting one of the largest corporate emitters against international efforts to slow the pace of warming. One of Trump’s doctors made the remark we see at the left here.

How powerful the voice of reason.

How sad that it falls on deaf ears.

People say that Trump has never been defeated, that he always finds a way to win, regardless of how ruthless and criminal his behavior needs to be.

My response is what this guy wrote.  You’re always undefeated.  Until you’re defeated.

Justice for Trump is right around the corner.

Does, as MLK told us, the arc of the moral universe bend toward justice?  I’m not sure, but it sure looks like Trump’s time is near.

Erin Perrine is the Director of Press Communications for Donald Trump, and yes, she really said this.

This is the level of intelligence that the president’s re-election campaign is targeting.

But is this who we are as a nation?  Guess we’ll find out soon.
