The country would be in a better place if Trump were to do that with his foundering bid for re-election, but it appears that this isn’t happening, something anyone could have predicted since the day he came to office.

If this were any other president, any other justice department, and any other Supreme Court, no one would be talking like this.
We’re used to rule of law kicking in and restoring justice, but in the back of our minds we know Trump’s capacity for his own survival and enrichment at the expense of everyone else on the planet, and it has shown itself, thus far at least, to be limitless.

That Trump is not conceding isn’t because he has any facts on his side, it’s because it’s something he simply lacks the capacity to do.
At this point in most of his dealings over the past few decades, he would normally declare bankruptcy and stiff a few hundred contractors. Given that this isn’t a possibility here, he finds himself flummoxed.

• The first and most important is that there is no evidence whatsoever of voter fraud, at least at any scale. As three-term Republican Senator Rick Santorum said about his home state, Pennsylvania, “The idea that there was a conspiracy to cheat on a massive level across 67 counties is just ludicrous.” (more…)
