I used to call Trump’s response to COVID-19 involuntary manslaughter, but it actually does appear like second degree murder at this point, as his motive has become clear.

There was nothing negligent about this; it was intentional. He deliberately sent thousands of people to agonizing deaths, so as to minimize the damage to his campaign for re-election.

He should get 20 years for each count.

From CREW (Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington):

“Louis DeJoy has overseen an attack on the Postal Service and on American democracy itself. Like the henchman of a petty dictator, he appears to be using the government agency he’s tasked to lead to attempt to fix an election for his boss. (more…)

Perhaps the saddest single element of American life in the 21st Century is that a solid 40% of Americans appear to have no moral values whatsoever.  To be a Trump supporter at this point means that you’re OK with a U.S. president protecting a foreign monarch who ordered the murder-by-torture of a journalist residing here in the states whose writings were critical of that monarch.

While it’s very likely that Trump will be deposed in the next few months, it’s extremely unlikely that tens of millions of people will suddenly develop some sort of conscience.

One wonders what Trump does with his time when he’s not tweeting, playing golf, or campaigning for re-election.

Now we know.  According to his own admission, he’s watching hour upon hour of Fox News.

Doesn’t this sound, well, dangerous to national security? I wasn’t privy to the daily activities of past presidents, but I would have bet that they spent most of their working hours protecting and defending the country, and advancing its causes around the globe.

The year 2020 has been defined by wildfires, the incitement of racial violence, and of course the pandemic, fueled as it is by America’s unique combination of lies and incompetence.

Even if COVID-19 were to be brought under control tomorrow, the deaths, the permanent damage to survivors’ health, and the long-term economic devastation will never be forgotten as long as civilization remains on this planet.

Perhaps the only thing to like about 2020 is the bumper crop of apocalyptic memes that all the mayhem has driven.  My hat’s off to the guy who made this one.

I took some serious guff for surmising that the story here is a joke; the article covers a new cargo ship with rigid, material-heavy sales, and I can’t imagine that this is really happening. Check out this exchange:

Me: This is a joke, yes? Please tell me yes.

As you watch this adorable little video here, remind yourself: About 43% of Americans want four more years of this.

They have only vague understandings that the United States has been singularly lame in its handling of the pandemic, that Americans are prohibited from travelling virtually everywhere on Earth outside the U.S., that there are 44 million people out of work, 22 million hungry children, 27 million with no healthcare, unprecedented levels of race-related violence–and that all this has happened/worsened since Trump took office.

Their solution: re-elect the president.

Could someone please explain something to me?  How does a president, any president, “rush out a vaccine?”

Obviously, there standard medical protocols that gauge safety and efficacy.  Who in the hell would get a vaccination that the scientific community as a whole hadn’t put its stamp on?

Again, I say this about any president, but especially about Trump, a man who has demonstrated hundreds of times that he has not the slightest concern for the well-being of the common American.  Here’s a guy who’s suggested injecting disinfectants and shining light into people’s orifices.    Who could possibly care what he thinks about our nation’s health?

Me: I suppose it depends on how one feels about felons. I raised my kids to believe that criminals were losers regardless of how much money and power they had. I think I made the right call here.
That this is in any way controversial is a very sad development in this formerly great country.

If the California Frisbee Golf Association had come out with a statement to the effect that it supported its players’ right to protest, it might not have had the same impact as NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s publicly apologizing for not listening to his players earlier.

Hats off.
