It’s easy to see how a fracas likes this starts (see video below). A woman is being roughed up by a cop, and a guy, infuriated beyond his control, body-checks the cop into the next zip code.

When my son was about 10, he got into a fight at school, for which I grounded him….until one of the teachers called me that evening and said, “I understand you’re punishing Jake (my son), and I would never question your judgement. I just wanted you to know the circumstances. The other kid pushed a girl to the ground, and within a fraction of a second he had Jake’s fist in his teeth.” (more…)

According to the Mayo Clinic, endometriosis is “an often painful disorder in which tissue similar to the tissue that normally lines the inside of [the] uterus — the endometrium — grows outside [the] uterus.”

For anyone who thinks Trump is being taken down by Fake News outlets or the Deep State, here’s a shocking video featuring a South Carolina college student, very much involved in Republican politics since he was 14 years old, who explains in very clear and compelling language why he can’t vote for Trump.

This is precisely the anchor that Trump finds around his neck that is dragging him to the bottom of the sea.  It’s obvious at this point to both liberals and conservatives that Trump is neither; his only concern is for himself, and he has no regard for Americans or American values whatsoever.

It’s clear to everyone now.  It may have taken us a while, but we appear to have arrived.

When Lincoln was shot in 1865, it took two weeks before the people in London and Paris learned what had happened.

When Krakatoa erupted just 18 years later, people all over the world knew about it within minutes.

The difference, of course, was telephony, and in particular, the laying of the trans-Atlantic cable.  It served an important purpose.

Now, here’s something new that will be crossing the Atlantic. It’s an unmanned boat that will make use of solar PV and artificial intelligence.

But here’s something to think about: What’s the point?  Unlike the trans-Atlantic cable, it has no purpose.  This is like laying the cable but forgetting to put copper in it so it can transmit electrical signals, or launching a rocket into space for no reason whatsoever.

Outside of that, I’m bananas about the idea.

Things started heating up on the streets of Portland a few days ago, where heavily armed and unidentified federal troops clashed with protesters in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, much to the chagrin of essentially everyone concerned.  Of course the protesters, almost all peaceful, resented being tear-gassed, beaten with batons, and hauled off in unmarked vehicles.  Other people who objected to the paramilitary assault included the state’s governor and the city’s mayor, whose police forces were familiar to the community and were more than adequate to address any vandalism associated with the marches.  (more…)

One of President Obama’s signature accomplishments was forcing automakers to boost the CAFE (corporate average fuel emission) standards to 54.5 MPG by model year 2025.  Not surprisingly, the Trump administration took immediate aim on this triumph and successfully rolled it back, along with more than 100 other important pieces of environmental regulation.

Now, along comes the EPA Inspector General who is conducting an investigation to the legitimacy of the rollback, claiming that it had come almost exclusively from the Department of Transportation, and that the EPA itself was virtually shut out of the decision-making process. (more…)

As we look at the photo here in a kind of dazed horror, we ask ourselves where this is all going.  We know that all this is driven by Trump’s desperation to be perceived as a strong leader who will keep us safe, as opposed to a Biden presidency under which our country will be taken over by anarchists.  But how credible is that?  How much danger are we suppose to think this young lady poses? A reader posted this and adds, “Imagine seeing this just six months ago.”

That’s an astute remark if there ever were one, and it’s illustrative of how fast a situation can decay in a country led by a man with no interest in anything but his own re-election. (more…)

Sorry for the obscene language here, but this made me smile.

Why has our search for extra-terrestrials been so unsuccessful?  Some speculate that great civilizations know we’re here, but have no more interest in us than we have in a small maggot colony deep in some forest.

Maybe it’s not that we’re uninteresting, but they actually find us repulsive.  Perhaps they say to one another, “Not only are their people so selfish as to destroy their own home, but check this out: the very highest form of life, ‘man,’ I think it’s called, is the only species on the entire planet that kills its own kind. And they do it with great relish, under the very slightest provocation.  In some cases, they like to cause their fellow man as much agony as possible in the process. That’s a good part of the galaxy to avoid.”

To be sure, Trump’s border wall has been one of the many pieces of idiocy that has brought ridicule to the United States over the past four years.

In particular, the Mexicans aren’t paying for it, it’s easily scaleable, it’s an ecological catastrophe (not that too many people care), the ground underneath it is eroding, it’s broadly regarded as a “vanity project” and “a scam,” and it’s just three miles longer than it was when Trump entered office.

Did I say three miles longer?  Oh, that was before Hurricane Hanna.  Now, it’s far less than that, as the strong winds have knocked part of it down, as shown in this short video.
