Trump’s efforts to divide the nation have been incredibly successful, and they’ve brought about all-too-predictable consequences.  One, of course, is the empowerment of white supremacists and the threat these dolts represent to everyday Americans.  Fifteen years ago we lived in fear of al Qaeda.  Five years ago it was ISIS.  Now it’s a bunch of hateful morons in white hoods and robes, carrying confederate flags, and packing AR-15s.

The First Amendment guarantees the right to peaceably assemble (emphasis my own).

This guy is offering for sale: All in one solution, solar freezer, solar tv, solar cooker and solar fan.

Is he saying that he can power appliances with solar energy?  Didn’t we already know that?

I did a live television show in New York City years ago where the first question out of the interviewer’s mouth was, “OK, Craig, so what can we do with renewable energy?”  To which I replied, as politely as I possibly could, “Anything you can do with energy from traditional sources.  Your toaster doesn’t care where those electrons come from.”

It sure does seem like the world is coming crashing down around the U.S. president:

Here’s a fabulous article that analyzes four semi-distinct phases of renewable energy adoption, each of which is a function of the plummeting costs of solar and wind, each of which comes about for a different reason. (more…)

There is some controversy as to whether actor/director Ron Howard actually wrote this or not.  In any case, Howard actually is a liberal, and this is worth a read.  FWIW, I don’t disagree with a single word here. – Craig

Here’s an article in Forbes that examines why the quality of our air is eroding.

The main irony of rolling back legislation like The Clean Air Act is that these laws were actually good for the economy, lowering healthcare costs and improving worker productivity.

Now they’re eviscerated, if not gone altogether.

Maybe they can be turned around in November.

This is what we’ve become.  Barbarians.

The predominant emotion that people in other countries regard the United States is pity.  No wonder.

Regarding the meme here, reader Tom Ujszaszy says, “And that is one way to get Trump another four years.”

It’s true that third party candidates have crippled the Democrats in the past, though a Libertarian is going to take far more votes from Trump than Biden.  Libertarians want to dismantle the government, and move virtually everything into the private sector.   That sounds suspiciously like what Steve Bannon said about the Trump administration’s mission to “dismantle the administrative state.” (more…)

In response to the discussion on the COVID-19 mortality rate, my mom notes: Looks as if statistics can say whatever you want.

Yes, that’s true, and remarkably, this is not a new idea.  I believe it was Mark Twain who said, “There are lies, there are damn lies, and then there are statistics.” He was amazing. (more…)
