That’s strange. He’s normally so willing to tell the complete truth, accept responsibility for his administration’s few minor failures, apologize, and explain how he’ll improve as a result of what he learned–especially when the health and safety of the American people is at stake.

Oh, wait…..

The meme here comes from actor/comedian John Fugelsang.  I have bad news, John: Trump’s approval rating has fallen slightly, but not significantly; it’s still a robust 42.4% as of today.

Apparently, the same people who are turned on by his lies, racism, cruelty, criminality, ruining the environment, etc. also believe his response to the coronavirus is competent and well managed.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Of course, no one knows what’s going on inside Trump’s head at any given moment in time.  Insiders report that he’s become even more paranoid and agitated than ever before, and that’s hard to deny from where the average American sits. (more…)

Am I the only American not worried about this? Biden is a garden-variety neoliberal, just like every president who’s come before him since 1980 (with a few variations on the theme).  His competitor is a sociopath, one that, fortunately, has no precedent in U.S. history. Behind the lies and the propaganda, he’s done nothing for this country other than to destroy it. (more…)

I thought this guy was serious–until I read past the first sentence.

And he’s correct, of course.  Catastrophes have no effect on the way the U.S. federal government is structured, how it functions, or whom it serves.  As long as the rich can make money by plowing along in a certain direction, regardless of how devastating that may be to our lives, we’d be very foolish indeed to think that a change may be in the offing. Note to self:  If you’re elected to lead a country and you face a lethal pandemic, a looming recession that will be both deep and lingering, and a panic-stricken population, at least pretend that you care of the public’s well-being.  Resist the temptation to ignore the needs of a desperate nation and talk about your television ratings.

Here’s a wonderful video on the so-called “war on science,” featuring, among other things, the Flat Earth Society, which drew a record 650 participants to its fourth annual conference.

For grins, I caught a few minutes of the lectures on the Flat Earth on YouTube; yes, they honestly do believe that the Earth is shaped as shown here. (more…)

Is this for real?  Possibly, but I’m always suspicious of people who claim to have “invented” some new electromechanical breakthrough, but who don’t know the units by which its supposed benefits are measured.  This guy says this motor has three time the gravimetric torque density of its predecessor as measured in Watts per kilogram, which is a unit of power density.

The text in the meme here translates as “The EIA (U.S. Energy Information Administration) projects that the production of biofuel will grow slowly until 2050.”

I doubt it.  With each passing year, it’s becoming more clear that biofuels are a terrible and non-scalable idea.  A few of the major oil companies worked their butts off to make this happen, and simply gave up. (more…)

Excellent point.  If you’re a progressive and want to point out that Biden isn’t, that’s cool.  If you think the kind of government found in the rest of the developed world, i.e., democratic socialism, isn’t right for the United States, that’s fine too.

But don’t forget that we have a sociopath in the White House who must be removed, regardless of what else happens this November.
