Small Wind

Here’s an interesting video that compares small wind (<50 KW) with solar for the typical homeowner.

The fellow concludes that small wind “isn’t there yet,” though there are some promising potential solutions coming onto the market soon; he actually predicts a positive growth rate for small wind in the U.S.

As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t see it.  While solar is getting better and cheaper, wind faces impossible hurdles, due to the physics of converting the kinetic energy in wind into electrical energy, including the cost of maintaining moving parts, poor wind conditions at low elevations, and competition from utility-scale wind, where blades 10X larger produce 100X more power.

That said, readers may want to judge for themselves.
