When it was revealed that the UK’s Global Warming Policy Foundation is accepting donations from the fossil fuel industry, it was reported to authorities for its fraudulent behavior.

“It brings no public good,” say signatories, who wish to reclassify it as a “lobby group” rather than a “charity.”

There are plenty of scummy ways to make a living on this planet, a fact that’s becoming ever clearer as time passes.  For my money, however, few are worse than professionally spreading lies that are frying this planet like a piece of chicken.

The anti-abortion folks have a ton of problems if they are to back up their beliefs with rational thought.

Here’s one of them.

As described here, the northwestern state of Idaho has become a magnet for white nationalists, gun nuts, and other members of the far-right.

The article poses the question “What’s it like to live in Idaho?”  The answer is obvious.  If this is the way you think, you’re enjoying the camaraderie of like-minded folks.  If this isn’t the way you think, it’s probably pretty disturbing to be surrounded by hateful and ignorant people.

But that inspires another question, which I ask myself whenever I hear about how gay people are persecuted in a state like Tennessee: Why in hell is a gay person living there?  Sell your stuff and move to someplace–anyplace–that isn’t a moral hellhole. It’s not like this country doesn’t have regions with decent, well-educated people.  Just pick one.

Obviously, this would be a far better country if we were able to rid ourselves of all this bigotry and stupidity.  But, as we look around, does that sound like something that’s actually becoming a reality? Until the United States begins to reach some level of enlightenment, it’s hard to blame people for moving out of places they’re not wanted.

Speaking for myself, I will most definitely not be finding out what it’s like to live in Idaho.

This from climate activist Greta Thunberg:
Yes, the climate crisis is the most complex issue that we have ever faced and it’s going to take everything from our part to ”stop it”. But the solution is black and white; we need to stop the emissions of greenhouse gases.

Re: the pic at left, here’s a conversation between me and two people I don’t know:

Cliff Chandler:  There ain’t an inch of water no where around the fuck you standing at

Kent Sullivan: You are an idiot, which is obvious by your unnecessary use of profanity and poor grammar.

Me:  LOL!!! And quite loudly, too!!  I was thinking the exact same thing!! I wonder where he stands politically.

We’ve all seen the results of surveys that ask, “Do you think America is on the right track?”

You can believe anything you want; you can be anywhere on the political spectrum you choose, but you are hard-pressed to think that what’s going on here (as expressed in the carton at left) represents anything remotely like the right “track.”

Sorry, that requires thinking, which is something we’re no longer capable of doing.

I urge patience among those many Americans who are frustrated that the U.S. Justice Department hasn’t indicted Donald Trump and the many others who clearly conspired to overthrow the United States federal government.  This is a complicated matter, with hundreds of people involved.

I have no patience whatsoever for a justice system that, to date at least, has not even begun to investigate Ginni Thomas, the wife of a U.S. Supreme Court justice, for the role she obviously played in all this.

Her email revealed that she had urged Republican lawmakers in Arizona to choose their own slate of electors after the 2020 presidential election, arguing, without evidence, that the results that gave Joe Biden a victory were fraudulent.  Once that happened, a formal investigation should have been initiated the same day.

Nancy Pelosi and Holy Communion

Do you ever have the experience of coming across a piece of news and finding it impossible to believe?  It’s so easy to make stuff up nowadays and put it on social media for gullible dupes to forward unwittingly.  Does what you’re reading just have to be an example of that?

Th conversation at left sent me to Google, because it seemed so incredibly unlikely, but, by Jiminy, it’s true, at least according to a large number of reports.  Nancy Pelosi, who is among two-thirds of Americans who support a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion, has been singled out by some archbishop for divine punishment.

Our central problem as a society is that we have lost our capacity to reason.

Hats off to Robert Harrington for the riposte of the day.

Tucker Carlson and I both graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, CT, and many fellow alumni are deeply chagrined to have any relationship, even by chance, with this abominable human being.
Here’s a letter on the subject that one Mark Johnson wrote to Joanne Berger-Sweeney, PhD.
