In response to the possible end of the Amazon rainforest, a reader notes: In general, human life on Earth is not as intelligent as we wish we were.

Intelligence may have something to do with it, but more obvious, to me at least, is the incomprehensible greed and selfishness of the world’s most powerful people, and their astonishing lack of compassion and concern for others.

Most of the world’s population actually does care about the future of humankind, but sadly, we’re not the ones who are making the strategic decisions concerning our industrial policies.  Our choices that drive the way we provide our planet’s energy, transportation, and agriculture are made by people to whom their immediate wealth and power mean far more than the well-being of a planet that is rapidly becoming a wasteland.

Putin may not be any more criminally insane than the others, but there is an important difference: he is sitting on 6000 nuclear warheads.

It’s not about NATO’s fear of being “defanged.”  It’s about their interest in preventing the end of human civilization.

Whether or not this is actually going to happen is anybody’s guess.  One would think that any self-respecting bar association would want to remove anyone who actively participated in overturning an honest election.

Various people have referred to Powell’s actions as “abuse of process.”  This goes so much further than that.

Over 90% of Americans support common sense gun laws that our Congress refuses even to discuss.  In particular, the vast majority of us wish the spectacle on the right here were not part of our culture.

The lady on the left, however, has the blessings of almost everyone on Earth.  Godspeed.

Apparently, the mechanics of removing a Postmaster General once installed are not straightforward.

That’s a shame, because watching Congress applying Band-Aids onto what’s left of the U.S. Post Office is not at all pleasing to loyal Americans who hate to see our nation’s infrastructure torn to shreds.

As you watch this short video featuring a herd of elephants crossing a road, notice that the big guy close to the back starts to slow down, and then his reasoning becomes clear.

In these dark times, let’s remember to acknowledge any act of kindness, regardless of how apparently insignificant.

I can’t confirm that this is true, but it seems likely.

And when we think about it, the idea of “onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war” is anything but a new concept.

I’m not looking for a church to join.

But if I were, I’d find this appealing.

A reader sent me this, and notes: When you finally realize that life is more than getting a list of freebies or demands fulfilled.

We see this commonly from Trump supporters, i.e., those who are told, and believe with all their hearts, that the former president is the only thing holding the country back from communism.

Fortunately, there is a very long list of items in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Most people would add, at a minimum: clear water and air.

I don’t disagree, but consider the capacity of these people to think critically.  It’s pretty feeble.

What makes this whole phenomenon a little more tolerable is the humor that some people are able to bring to the table.  I want to shake the hand of whoever wrote the cartoon below.
