As many predicted years ago, Trump would eventually lose congressional support, and, when that process began, if would come in an avalanche.
The problem, however, is that the rank and file Trump supporter couldn’t care less what his elected representative thinks. How swayed do you think the fellow shown below is by all this?
He’s threatening to burn down a bookstore in California. Do you think he’ll reconsider that, now that one of his senators supports Biden? (more…)
Labeling a certain group “terrorists” may not sound like an important distinction. After all, we have laws that prohibit and punish threatening violence, and certainly committing it. Yet the laws we’ve passed over the last couple of decades concerning terrorism make that much easier and more direct.
If the ass**** shown at left isn’t a terrorist, it’s hard to know who is.
The fact that he’s white, however, makes this a very tough thing to get accomplished.
This is something you either perceive and understand, or you don’t. To most people in the U.S., and virtually everyone else around the globe, this is as obvious as the sun in the sky. Yet about 40% of Americans simply can’t get this, and probably never will.
A reader comments on the meme here: I think it comes from the notion that generally police are supposed to be the best of the best, the ones charged with protecting those who can not protect themselves. They have been labeled the good guys. Unfortunately that is not the case in every example.
Personally, I don’t expect the police to be the “best of the best,” especially given that what they do for a living forces them to confront the worst side of humankind on a minute-to-minute basis. If this hardens them, that’s perfectly understandable.
What I do expect, demand actually, is that they not use excessive force on anyone, and treat all races equally.
This, btw, is not just the voice of kindness and compassion; it’s the voice of the U.S. Constitution, in particular the 14th Amendment.
Exxon’s (ticker XOM) stock closed at just under $41/share today, off more than 60% from its all-time high about 10 years ago. That hardly makes it a “buy” at this point, however, because the fundamentals are so poor: (more…)
If you were asked to name the single most despicable member of Trump’s cabinet, whom would you choose?
Attorney General William Barr might be an obvious choice, insofar as he’s functioning essentially as the president’s private attorney, and has no interest in upholding justice on behalf of the American people. His partnership with Trump is rapidly bringing an end to rule of law in the United States.
I have bad news for the GOP: rhetoric like this isn’t going to get the job done. It’s true that there are a few tens of millions of morons who can’t think back to 2008 – 2016, when politically equivalent Obama was in the White House, Joe Biden was VP, and none of this happened. But that’s not nearly enough to win the election.
All Gaetz did was further embarrass his party, and that takes some real work.
