As we near the election, we see Biden’s lead in the polls continuing to grow, as Trump’s words and actions become increasingly erratic and frightening. At the same time, we have the FBI statements to the effect that the voting process is extremely secure. Yet we also see warnings like the one at the left. What gives? (more…)

Maybe it’s just stupidity.
From the time I was in grade school I’ve been wondering why God would favor the endeavors of Americans over those of the French or Japanese.
It just didn’t seem very “Godlike.”

If he’s talking about congresspeople themselves, he’s certainly right.
Democrats are appalled at the dishonesty, the corruption, and the self-dealing, and are deeply frustrated that they have been unable to rid our nation of this pestilence. (more…)
As if this comes as a surprise to anyone, Amy Barrett, Trump’s pick to replace Justice Ginsburg, has implied that she opposes the landmark 2007 decision Massachusetts vs. Environmental Protection Agency, which gave the federal government the power to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. (more…)

It’s that, with all it’s faults, the United States has been a pretty decent place to live, until 2017 rolled around. Most of us were fairly happy; life was good. It’s interesting that the UK totally gets this. In truth, Trump has some support in England, largely among the rural, Brexit-loving anti-intellectuals, but the vast majority of Brits, known worldwide for their wisdom and sophistication, sees quite clearly that he’s a crass, unrefined dolt.
Among the many bizarre twists in current-day U.S. politics is the fact that progressives are now rooting for people we used to disdain: army generals, FBI and CIA directors, conservative pundits like George Will, and now former Secretary of Homeland Security, life-long Republican Tom Ridge.
Go get ’em, Tom.
This is a sad truth.
Maybe the only remaining question is how far backward we’ll go before we turn around again.
It’s hard not to seem sorry for America’s women, non-white, LGBTQs, poor, working class, scientists…and anyone else with a conscience.
I know I’m being repetitious on this point, but I keep coming across data points that make we wonder about the dwindling cohorts that are voting for Trump, and the growing number who consider him incompetent, or worse: sociopathic, traitorous, etc.
The U.S. military is a group that, if nothing else, holds the country’s security dear, and they respect their superior officers as well. Of course, respecting an idea and sharing it are two different things, but what happens when someone of the stature of this retired admiral tells the Coast Guard officers and enlisted men and women, both active duty and retired, that Trump is ruining our country?
