At left we see what could be accomplished with a wealth tax.

Getting there is going to be a b****, however, given the current state of corruption in the United States and around the world.  The wealthy and powerful, who essentially own the law-making process, would have to decide to tax themselves.

Since the probability of that is one in a bazillion, we’ll have to content ourselves with the hypothetical nature of the magic red button.

Michelle Obama is an intelligent, articulate, and, above all, extremely refined human being.  In her speech the other night she said Trump was the “wrong president for our country.”

That’s putting it so kindly, it’s actually kind of funny.  Would he be the right person for some other country? (more…)

The meme hear sounds good; it almost rolls off the tongue.  But it’s untrue.

Equal rights means, to take an example, that white people no longer have the right to ban people of color from their country clubs and tony neighborhoods.  It means that a racist presidential administration can no longer violate U.S. and international law, and lock Hispanic children in cages–regardless of how much joy they might derive from doing so.

Personally, I’m more than OK with this, but the garden-variety white American racist will fight it to the death.

Done?  Well, losing the support of the top spokespeople in the Republican Party may not be auspicious, but it’s not the end.  Most Republicans will remain Trump supporters, regardless of what they hear from people like Powell and Kasich (and those below), because:

1) The garden variety hateful ignoramus loves Trump for his brutality against people of color, and

2) The amoral rich are hoping for another tax break.

It’s not over till it’s over.

A friend took this pic during her morning walk in Santa Monica, CA.

Yes, you’re more likely to see this in California, than, say, Kansas, but it’s a statement shared by the majority of Americans.  After this race-baiting sociopath leaves office, via whatever means, this nation will rebuild its cultural fabric and move forward to a more just and inclusive society.

This just in:  Trump discouraged Americans from purchasing Goodyear tires after it was reported that company employees in Kansas were told not to wear “Make America Great Again” attire or other politically-affiliated gear: “This is what the Radical Left Democrats do. Two can play the same game, and we have to start playing it now!” (more…)

Though it’s hard for most people to admit they made a mistake, that appears to be happening in significant numbers, where people who voted for Trump in 2016 will be voting for Biden in 2020.

Some are doing it quietly, others vociferously.  Here’s Former Dept of Homeland Security Chief of Staff Miles Taylor, who explains how disgusted he was when he realized that Trump’s only interest in his department was political.  He had no interest in potential terrorist threats or cyber attacks, but rather using DHS to get himself re-elected.

In reference to the meme here, someone suggests, “This creep needs to be silenced.”

No, loathsome as it is, this is protected by free speech.

What needs to happen is precisely what seems to be the case: people are disgusted, and they distance themselves from the source of that revulsion.

When Trump exits the White House, he will leave the United States to lick its wounds for many years to come.  Eventually, the nation will repair its relationships with its traditional allies, put an end to the senseless trade wars, welcome the advancements being made by the Black Lives Matter movement, put the pandemic behind us, and get the country back to work and school. As demonstrated at the left, religious extremism doesn’t fit in well in any place where science is a necessary ingredient in solving a critically important problem.

So much of this is offensive, it’s hard to know where to start.

Personally, I get a little peeved with people who try to tell me what God wants us to do. What makes this twit’s understanding of the Almighty superior to anyone else’s?

Moreover, I can’t recall a place in scripture in which God orders us to ignore learned people.
