As shown here, it’s possible for top-level Republicans to say literally anything they like and not be ridiculed by the Trump base.

Trump’s results?  Let’s think about that, and consider how he’s led this nation in terms of the pandemic, unemployment, trade wars, race relations, respect from other countries, toughness on dictators, humane treatment of children, healthcare, environmental protection, cabinet stability, trade deficit, the national debt, small businesses, honesty, rule of law, military justice, public education, draining the swamp of felons, nuclear de-escalation, and police reform.

Not that I care, but how’s that wall coming along?

24.6 million people watched Joe Biden’s speech last night, and a great number of those viewers believed when they tuned in that they were about to see a blithering, senile old fool.  Over the past couple of months, I have heard several people repeating the same propaganda line: “Even if he’s elected, how could he possibly complete his term in office when his mental health is so feeble?”

For just under 25 minutes, Biden was articulate, steady, forceful, and on-message.  Even Fox News admitted his talk was a “home run.”

So here’s a question: How did all these people feel by the end of the speech?  They had seen the videos of Biden stammering, each carefully stitched together to make the candidate appear to be doddering and failing.  How did they deal with the fact that they had been completely deceived?

I honestly don’t know, but I do know that if it were I in that position, I would be angry–yes, at the propagandists, but probably more with myself, for being so gullible.

Most of us are a bit frustrated when we see public figures profiting from the lunacy of today’s world, especially when it is so obviously and so purely corrupt.

Maybe that’s based on one of a seemingly infinite supply of news items.  Perhaps you’re cheesed off that the United States Postmaster General, the chief executive officer of the United States Postal Service, while aggressively destroying the post office, holds a  huge interest in the institution’s competition.  He also functions as a huge donor to the president’s re-election campaign that will be well served by shutting down mail-in ballots. Solar and wind produce 12% of the energy the U.S. consumes, according to this report, a figure that has doubled in the last five years.  Teaming up with nuclear, the three carbon-free sources of power are steadily replacing coal. Coal generation dropped a record-breaking 8.3 percent in the first half of 2020, compared to the same period in 2019.

This is happening, but will it happen in time? (more…)

Gary Tulie writes:

The UN issued a report criticising the US for allowing some of its citizens to live in such abject poverty that they had to live with open sewers in rural Alabama.

When I searched for similar in the EU, I could not find any reference to any similar situation – in fact any EU country allowing such a situation would face court action in the European Court of Justice for breaking water quality rules! (more…)

Trump’s behavior was never measured or sane, but at least it was predictable insofar as it was self-serving.  Now it’s become so erratic that it’s actively self-destructive.

How on Earth is this not going to cost him votes?
