If I had to pick the aspect of a Biden presidency that I’m happiest to see, I guess I’d go with honesty.  It’s not that Biden personally or Democrats generally are impeccably honest, but rather that what they’re replacing is easily the most corrupt and mendacious administration in the entire history of the United States. A reader provided the meme here.

He doesn’t seem to understand what the public sector, via its tax base, provides each American:  infrastructure, police, fire fighting, criminal justice, national defense, public education, labor laws, auto and food safety standards, air traffic control, TSA, libraries, emergency medical care, environmental regulation, social security, Medicare, the National Archives, national parks, bank regulations and deposit insurance, copyright and patent laws, federal dams to provide electrical power, flood control, the Weather Service, the Federal Housing Authority, consulates and embassies, FEMA, veterans affairs, public water systems, monitoring of all international cargo, NASA, border protection, and the National Institutes of Health.

Not sure this is the type of rigorous thinking required for success in today’s world.

By 2026, luxury automaker Bentley will have axed its 12-cylinder gasoline-powered monster-engine, in favor of plug-in hybrids and pure battery EVs; by 2030, the latter will become 100% of the output.

At 5400 pounds, the Bentley needs some serious torque so as not to disappoint its affluent customers, and it is for this reason that electric makes so much sense.  One of the reasons that Teslas are selling like hotcakes is that, when it comes to performance, they compete with Lamborghinis and Ferraris.

On top of everything, there are many wealthy people who care about the environment, making this a win for everyone.

There is so much to be thankful for, now that Trump will be exiting the White House, one of which is lunacy like this.

I guess all you can say is demons begone.

It’s been four full years since there was one iota of class and decency in the White House, and thus we all can be excused if we’ve forgotten what something like this looks like. To the end of refreshing our memories, I give you the speech John McCain gave, conceding victory to Barack Obama in 2008. (more…)

From Labor411.org: Exxon announced that it will lay off 15% of its workforce over the next year, which means pink slips for about 14,000 employees worldwide. With oil prices in decline and fossil fuels in the crosshairs as global climate concerns grow stronger, Exxon has found itself in a major slump. (more…)

An emotionally overwrought Stephen Colbert reacts to Trump’s claims of a fraudulent election.

I fully expected Trump to make baseless claims about the election if he lost, but I didn’t predict seeing Colbert on the verge of tears.

My only hope is that, between now and the time Trump leaves office, there aren’t incidents that make the entire country cry.

Here’s an article describing how China is moving into the lead in EV production, despite the success of Tesla.

I’m not sure how insightful this is.  China has slow but sure growth in the manufacture of almost anything you can name.  They also understand that cleantech is to become the defining industry of the 21st Century and, unlike the U.S., are investing heavily in it.

In addition, BYD is a huge concern that’s been in electric transportation from the very start.  Interestingly, they’re completely vertically integrated, meaning that they have a unit that manufactures literally everything that goes into an EV, from the batteries to the tires.

A reader says: “I respect Trump for what he’s accomplished.  I like to look only at the statistics.”

Yes, but which ones? Environmental damage? Children living in poverty? Human health? Education? Racial violence? Police killings? Associates imprisoned? Dictators coddled? Allies alienated? Children in cages? Heads of states extorted? American heroes insulted? War criminals and cronies pardoned? Nepotism? Sham universities? Fraudulent charities? Profit made from the office? Neo-nazis encourages?  White supremacists condoned? Pussies grabbed and rape allegations?  Cases of obstruction? Witnesses intimidated? Demonstrable lies told? Porn stars paid off? Baseless claims of voter fraud? U.S. tire companies boycotted? U.S. farmers bankrupted? White House staff fired?

Donald Trump speaks to supporters

It’s clear that Trump has lost the 2020 presidential election, to the joy of essentially every human being on Earth, minus his remaining supporters here in America.  People around the world are celebrating that the United States has rejected its would-by dictator and restored some level of dignity and decency to the presidency.
